Installation Guide
(If you have followed this guide and are still being asked for a License ID and Password, then something in your system configuration is interfering with your installer. If this occurs, please click here for instructions for a manual installation.)
(You may want to minimize [not close, just minimize] this window while installing your software so that you can follow along with each step.)
It looks complicated, but it's actually a very simple process. The whole installation should take under 5 minutes. (Not counting time spent reading this, if necessary.)
To uninstall previous software (Required if you already have any of this software installed)
1. Completely uninstall any instances of DVDXCopy, DVDXCopy XPress, DVDXCopy Gold, DVDXCopy Platinum, DVDXRescue, and DVD43. This package includes DVDXCopy Platinum, DVDXCopy XPress (included with DVDXCopy Platinum), DVDXRescue, and DVD43 (as a secondary "just in case" ripper).
- Click the Start Button
- Hover mouse over "Setting" and then click "Control Panel" in the new menu.
- Click "Add or Remove Programs"
- When the list loads, click on one of the above-listed programs, and then click the "Remove" or "Uninstall" button associated with that program. Repeat for each of the above-listed programs. (Reboot your PC after all of them have been uninstalled to ensure a fresh system for your installation.)
2. Reboot after uninstalling these software programs.
To install your downloaded (or hard copy) software
Part 1 - DVDXCopy Installation
1. Begin installation
- If you have the package version, simply insert the CD. (If the installation process does not begin automatically, browse to the CD drive, and double-click the file called "install".)
- If you have the download version, unzip the ZIP file (using Window's built-in "unzip" process, WinZIP, WinRAR, or other "ZIP" software.) Once the file is unzipped, double-click the file called "install".

2. A black "DOS" window (With a command prompt like C:\ or F:\, etc... like computer screens used to look 15 years ago...) will open up in the background. DO NOT CLOSE THIS WINDOW. It manages the installation of multiple programs, and must remain open during the entire install process.

3. A "readme" text file will open up in NotePad or WordPad. Read it, and then click the "X" to close it and continue.

4. Select English (the default) as your installer language, and click OK.

5. Read the End User License Agreement and click OK.

6. Install to the default directory. (You can install to a different directory, but it will require an extra step later.)
7. Allow the DVDXCopy Platinum (and XPress) installation to complete, then click Close.
THIS ONLY COMPLETES THE DVDXCOPY INSTALLATION. You still have to allow DVDXRescue and DVD43 to install. Do not reboot yet!
You still have more software to install, and rebooting now will interrupt the SellDVDXCopy.com installer (the black window from the beginning of this guide), resulting in your software not being properly installed and activated.

8. DO NOT REBOOT YET! (NOTE: You will probably not see this screen until later. This is simply for the very few of you who see this window now instead of later.)
DVDXRescue should automatically begin installation. If, however, you see the following window at this point, do not reboot yet. (This window should be hidden behind the DVDXRescue installation window, so you will probably not see this window until later. But if you see it, follow the directions below.)
You still have more software to install, and rebooting now will interrupt the SellDVDXCopy.com installer (the black window from the beginning of this guide), resulting in your software not being properly installed and activated.
Click the "X" to continue with the installation of DVDXRescue without rebooting.

9. You may also see this window. Again, click No and DO NOT REBOOT.

Part 2 - DVDXRescue Installation
1. Immediately after you click Close (or possibly "Close, then X, then No" as shown in the three graphics above), the DVDXRescue installation will automatically begin.
2. Select English (default) as your installation language.

3. You will see the following screen. Click Next to continue.

4. Read the End User License Agreement. Put a check in the "I have read and agree to the terms of this license" checkbox, and then click Next.

5. If you see the following screen, it means that a previous version of DVDXRescue is installed on your system. (This can occur even after you uninstall it, if you selected the "Automatic" option during the uninstall process.)
In this event, simply choose "Yes, do a Quick Update" to overwrite any previous settings.
If you see this screen, please read the section at the bottom of this guide entitled "Advanced Installation Issues" after you have completed your installation, but BEFORE REBOOTING.)

6. Simply click Next on the following screen to continue your DVDXRescue installation.

7. Installation will continue. Allow this process to do what it needs to do without interruption. (It should continue automatically, but click Next if necessary when the status bar reaches the end.)
8. Click Finish on the following screen to complete your DVDXRescue installation. Note that the two checkboxes are supposed to be greyed out for this installation.

9. DO NOT REBOOT YET!
You still have more software to install, and rebooting will interrupt the SellDVDXCopy.com installer (the black window from the beginning of this guide), resulting in your software not being properly installed and activated.
Click Cancel to continue.

10. AGAIN - DO NOT REBOOT YET!
You will likely see the following window when the DVDXRescue installer closes after you click Cancel (see above graphic). This is a leftover from the DVDXCopy installation that has been behind other windows until now. Click the "X" to close this without rebooting.
You still have more software to install, and rebooting will interrupt the SellDVDXCopy.com installer (the black window from the beginning of this guide), resulting in your software not being properly installed and activated.
Click Cancel to continue with the installation of DVD43 (the backup "just in case" ripper, and the internal activation process.

11. You may also see this window. Again, click No and DO NOT REBOOT.

Part 3 - DVD43 Installation
1. Immediately after NOT REBOOTING and clicking Finish, the "X" symbol, and "No" in their respective windows (see three graphics above), installation of DVD43 should begin automatically.
After ensuring that you have already uninstalled any previously installed versions of DVD43, click Next to continue.

2. Allow the DVD43 installation to do what it needs to do, and then you will be given a little readme with information such as the version fixes, etc. (It is intentionally unreadable in this picture, as the information changes from version to version.)
Click Next to continue.
3. DO NOT REBOOT YET!
You still have more software to install, and rebooting will interrupt the SellDVDXCopy.com installer (the black window from the beginning of this guide), resulting in your software not being properly installed and activated.
Select "No, I will restart my computer later", and click Finish to continue.

4. After clicking Finish, the SellDVDXCopy.com Installer (the black window) will now automatically activate your software. If you receive a white popup window with the words "INSTALLATION COMPLETED!", then you are finished. Close the window, and manually reboot your PC. Otherwise, please continue below.
5. If you see a text file with instructions on advanced installation issues, then you have one more step to complete. This is due to one of the following issues:
- You did not completely uninstall all of the previously installed software as indicated at the beginning of this guide. (Or you used the "Quick Update" during the DVDXRescue uninstall process.)
- You did not install your software to the default directory, choosing instead to pick your own directory.
Again, if you see a text file with instructions relating to advanced installation issues, then your activation process is not yet complete. Please continue with Part 4 below.
Part 4 - Advanced Installation Issues
Sometimes, PC's may have overly aggressive security settings or other issues that might interfere with the installer. If you follow the above guide and are still being prompted for a License ID and Password, then this applies to you. Please click here for instructions for a manual installation. Don't worry... this one is guaranteed to work, regardless of your system configuration. |
